All mumbaikars might have seen so many people coming in local and trying to sell their product....some time we just see it out of curiosity and some times end in buying up something from them.... some times we buy just as sympathy to seller( At least I do).. I mean we may not necessary need it much but will buy it bz it gives smile on their face..... particularly if female are there who carry their babies with them......
Have you seen some one wearing jeans-top , carrying purse etc and selling something in local....... I have never seen until on 18th Aug 07...... yeah I was that lady trying to sell her product in local.
So story behind all this is something like this.....me and my roomie went to Bandra for time pass......... did some Window shopping and were returning home.....we were little late so took Auto and were going to bandra station to catch local for Dadar from where again we had to catch Local to Mulund..... so we were in Auto and one signal became RED..... whenever i see signals and some beggars coming along i remember Traffic Signal Movie....and i become stubborn for not giving single rupee to them.... but if someone comes and sells something i Wont mind spending.....so happened that day ... a boy of around 10-12 years old came to me and asked to buy to Flower pots ( Which were made up of Plaster of paris and coloring on it)He asked to take two for 40 bucks and i thought not big deal.... so handed him money without any further thoughts....
Then my friend asked me what i will do of it.... i said will take Native home...... for which she asked HOW? .... Good question...isn't it?
Today only i came to know that to questions which you can't answer are good questions.
so it was good question for me.... we took local for Dadar and i was thing of some answer......... I suggested how about selling it in Local.....by this time she knows me well and understand that i can talk anything weird like that so she said fine.... no probs at all..... you can sell it....don't ask me to do and in that case i am not with you.......
I said fine so she asked how much bucks u will sell it for.... i said one for 20 only then she suggested why not tell them 25 and then bargain to 20......... I also got convinced and made up my mind......BY this time our next crowded local came.... We stepped in As if ZHASHI KI RANI ....managed to get seats..... we had those pots in our hands....one with me and other with her....
I started marketing it..... asked if anybody interested to buy it for 25 rs and repeated above story.... ladies whispered among themselves....... two commented these are really nice... and 25 is really reasonable price for it etc etc..... one said i have bigger one at home.... otherwise i would have taken it......i thought why not go in other compartment adn try luck there....
so asked my frnd to accompany me.....one lady listened this and asked if I am really interested in selling it......on hearing my YES she given me 25 bucks and asked for smaller pot.
So this is how i became lady Vendor with jeans in Local ......
story not ends here.... i kept feeling bad that i took 25 from her....I did thought to return 5 to her but one thought prevailed me doing it was she will loos faith on me... for that matter everyone in that local.....they will feel that may be 20 is also not real price and won't trust somebody going forward.....I just do not wanted to break trust by telling i have already done that... atleast now she is satisfied and happy with her POT but don't know.... I repented for listening my frnds suggestion and started selling on 25.....rather telling people that i bought it for 25......
i am still searching for right answer....just to balance it some where i given that money to one vendor in that traine who was looking tired and carrying her baby....i didn't wanted to buy anything but to let that money go to some such vendor sister of that boy ..... what else i could have done in that situation?
was in complete dilemma.....what do you think?
what you would have done being at my place?

BRAVO!
thats the first thought which comes to my mind...to actually do something like this...man i am jealous...
and what i would have done in that situation is sold the pots for the same price may be cos i believe in no profit no loss :D
and btw Sushant says - Well Done! wat u did help the boy too...
keep it up..
btw run a spell check before posting from next time :)
If i were you, i would have given those extra Rs 5 to either begger that frequently comes in local trains or would have donated in Mandir...
Because, In that situation, only thing that would have been troubling me was those "profit" of Rs 5 which was making me unfaithful to the boy who sold the pot for Rs 20.
I think u r a damn adventurous girl...as for the problem posed by you...I would rather see it as some first hand lesson in salesmanship than philanthropy....well I would NOT have used the story that you recounted to others to sell the pots. If you really wanted to help the pot seller boy..you helped him by buying his wares. No need to recover that money by selling them again and using that story. But since you wanted to get rid of them...u sold the pots.Take it as a real experience in salesmanship and sell it ..though at a price higher than what you paid the boy. And anyways this should not really trouble your scruples since you donated the money you got from the transaction.
